Consultant Technologist, Pathology
Full-time Contract Position
The Quality Management ProgramLaboratory Services is a department of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) that provides external quality assessment and accreditation to Ontarios licensed laboratories as the agent of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Operating under an agreement between the parties, QMPLS promotes quality management through proficiency testing/external quality assessment, accreditation and knowledge transfer. The program has an international reputation and is actively exploring opportunities to provide services outside of Ontario in Canada and abroad.
QMPLS External Quality Assessment (EQA) division is seeking a Consultant Technologist primarily to manage its Anatomic Pathology program. This is an evolving program that requires ongoing development and innovation. The successful candidate will be expected to possess the flexibility to take on the administration of the Cytology program, as required. QMPLS is looking for innovation, fresh ideas and energy to take its EQA program to higher levels of excellence.
You will be responsible for collaborating with members of our scientific committees and staff to design, plan and implement various laboratory EQA models. This includes monitoring laboratory performance and developing quality improvement initiatives.
This is a full-time contract position for a minimum of six months but part-time will also be considered.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Laboratory Technologist or Scientist upholding all professional, provincial and national standards
- Minimum ten years recent practical experience in Pathology and/or provision of proficiency testing/EQA programs
- Advanced Registered Technologist certification and/or relevant bachelors degree is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of quality control practice and associated statistics
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office environment)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, group facilitation skills
- Team player; committed to collaborative approach, as well as ability to work independently
- Well organized; project management skills an asset
SALARY RANGE

Coordinator, External Quality Assessment (EQA) Services
Full-time Permanent Position
The Quality Management ProgramLaboratory Services is a department of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) that provides external quality assessment and Accreditation to Ontarios licensed laboratories as the agent of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Operating under an agreement between the parties, QMPLS promotes quality management through proficiency testing/external quality assessment, accreditation and knowledge transfer. The program has an international reputation and is actively exploring opportunities to provide services outside of Ontario in Canada and abroad.
QMPLS External Quality Assessment (EQA) division is seeking a Coordinator, EQA Services to support all laboratory discipline programs. This is an evolving role that requires initiative and creativity for its ongoing development. The successful candidate will be expected to have sufficient flexibility to support the operation in any of the chemistry, hematology, genetics, microbiology, and pathology programs, as required.
You will be responsible for collaborating with the consultant technologists, members of our scientific committees and staff to implement various laboratory EQA models. This includes monitoring laboratory performance and developing quality improvement initiatives. If you are a general duty technologist or recent graduate from a biological science baccalaureate program who is looking for a challenge, loves variety and has a broad-based interest in quality management in laboratory medicine, then this opportunity is for you!
This is a full-time permanent position.
