Accreditation

Information for Assessors

OLA relies on laboratory physicians, MLTs, managers and scientists to serve as assessors for the accreditation program. All assessors receive advance training and certification. Assessors are remunerated for their time and expenses when conducting an assessment visit.

You may define the amount of time you can devote to this activity. Participation as an assessor will provide valuable skills in conducting your laboratory’s own audits and self-assessments. All applicants will be screened and if accepted, trained and certified.

The assessor training course consists of self-study modules and pre-assignments (up to 18 hours), and 2-1/2 days of classroom training. All individuals accepted as assessors will be offered this training free of charge. We regret that QMP–LS cannot remunerate individuals for their training time, but a small travel subsidy is available. Assessor training commenced in September 2002, and will continue indefinitely. Sessions will occur throughout Ontario, and will be scheduled as necessary.
