About QMP–LS

QMP–LS Review
Overview

QMP–LS  is dedicated to improving the quality of lab medicine through external quality assessment (EQA) and accreditation to the OLA 15189Plus™ standard. The Quality Management Program—Laboratory Services is a mandatory program operated by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) and funded by Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) in order to improve patient safety. QMP–LS achieves this by assessing the quality of lab test results and ensuring labs meet international and national standards of excellence through the OLA 15189Plus™ accreditation program.

QMP–LS has scientific committees comprised of physicians, PhDs and technologists who are leaders in their fields and who help—along with our dedicated staff—create and run the EQA programs and produce hundreds of survey reports, committee comments, broadsheets, best practice guidelines, posters and webinars. QMP–LS’ Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) division accredits over 230 labs to the OLA 15189Plus™ standard and provides medical labs in Ontario with the tools and education they need to prepare for accreditation. The OLA 15189Plus™ standard is based on a number of rigorous standards, including ISO 15189, ISO 15190, ISO 22870 and the Canadian Standards Association’s CSA-Z902.

QMP–LS’ assessment and accreditation services and educational tools are available to healthcare organizations throughout Canada and the world through our distributor, the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH).
